3-Day Montreal School Trip Itinerary

Discover Montréal: An Educational Adventure

This three-day Montréal itinerary is designed to provide students with a dynamic and immersive educational experience in one of Canada's most culturally rich cities. Carefully crafted to blend history, science, and art, this program offers a perfect balance of structured learning and cultural exploration.

We understand that every school group has unique goals. This foundational itinerary is highly adaptable and can be customized in two key ways:

  1. For Language Immersion: This tour can be transformed into a full French immersion experience, with guides, activities, and materials conducted in French to enhance language skills in an authentic context.

  2. For a Longer Journey: The itinerary can easily be extended into a comprehensive four-day trip or combined with a visit to the historic capital of Québec City, offering a deeper exploration of la belle province.

Please review the following schedule as a starting point, and let us know how we can tailor it to meet your specific educational objectives.

DAY 1: Arrival, City Views & Historic Old Montreal

  • Morning: Board your washroom-equipped, climate-controlled motor coach and depart for Montréal. Your Tour Leader will use this travel time to review the itinerary, safety protocols, and answer any initial questions from the students.

  • Mount Royal Lookout: The group will head up to the top of Mount Royal to get a bird’s eye view of the city. From the lookout, students will get a panoramic view of the Saint Lawrence River and the Monteregian Hills—a perfect photo opportunity and a great geographical introduction to the city.

  • Lunch (can be arranged as a bagged lunch or at a food court).

  • Montreal Science Centre: Head to the Old Port to visit the Montreal Science Centre. Students can explore interactive exhibits on technology, biology, and environmental science. An IMAX film can be included for an additional educational experience (subject to availability and cost).

  • Hotel check-in.

  • Dinner at the hotel or a group-friendly restaurant.

  • Old Montréal Orientation Tour: Your Tour Leader will guide you through Old Montréal to learn about this historic district. Students will see the historic Notre-Dame Basilica, Place Jacques-Cartier, and the oldest skyscraper in Canada, the New York Life Insurance Building.

  • Night security each evening between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.

DAY 2: History, Art & Cosmic Fun

  • Breakfast at the hotel.

  • Escape the Port: City of Symbols: Head to the heart of Old Montréal to hunt for symbols hidden by generations past. This activity brings your students together to help solve a mystery and explore the history of this fascinating city in an engaging, hands-on way.

  • Montréal Planetarium Visit: The Planétarium Rio Tinto Alcan lets students explore the galaxy with two complementary shows, one science-based and the other a whimsical journey through time and space. Between shows, students will learn more about astronomy through interactive exhibits.

  • Lunch on your own in the Montréal Underground City: Explore Montréal’s extensive underground pathway of shops and restaurants.

  • Self-Guided Tour at the Montréal Museum of Fine Arts: Students will explore the permanent collection of the museum to see some of the finest Canadian and international artwork that spans centuries. Pre-prepared worksheets or scavenger hunts can help guide their visit.

  • Dinner at the hotel or a group-friendly restaurant.

  • Cosmic Bowling: Strike! With two hours of cosmic bowling, black lights, and hit music, this experience is a fun way to unwind. Shoe rentals are included.

DAY 3: Local Culture & Deep History

  • Breakfast at the hotel.

  • Check out of your hotel and load bags onto the coach.

  • St-Viateur Bagel Factory Visit: There is nothing like a Montréal bagel! St-Viateur Bagel has been a central part of the culture and daily life of Montréal since 1957. Your students will learn the story of how it became a legendary landmark and are encouraged to try a bagel (at their own cost).

  • Guided Tour of Pointe-à-Callière Museum: Start the tour with a film that brings Montréal’s history to life. After the show, your students will explore the actual archaeological foundations of the city, including Indigenous habitats, and will learn the history of the region dating back thousands of years. This is a world-class historical experience.

  • Lunch on your own.

  • Explore Old Montréal: Free time to shop for souvenirs and explore the charming cobblestone streets of Old Montréal.

  • Departure for home.
