Outdoor Attractions For A School Trip To Boston, Massachusetts

COVID-19 presents new challenges for school trips to any destination, including Boston, Massachusetts.

There are many questions being asked about how a school trip can be planned to avoid or minimize the risks of COVID-19. First and foremost, any trip planning will be contingent on the CDC guidance of any state or city rules allowing for travel.

Our school trip itineraries and programs will focus on staying outdoors, as much as possible. This is a great opportunity for students to spend a longer length of time exploring and interacting with the sites and attractions selected.

For the safety of our passengers, we will allocate more time for sanitary breaks. This includes hand sanitizer on board all motorcoaches, and meals that will feature customized takeaway boxes with dietary requirement options. Wearing masks will be critical until any guidance is removed from the selected attractions.

We have designed a two-day itinerary and three day Boston school trip itineraries to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 situation until a vaccine comes forward.

Below you will find some of our itineraries main highlights for our Boston COVID-19-Friendly School trip:

Boston Duck Tour

Groups will hop aboard the Boston Duck Tour boats either from the New England Aquarium or the Museum of Science. The Boston Duck Tour is a fully narrated, and historic tour through Boston, Massachusetts. This is the perfect way for students on a school trip to discover the city and learn about local history. This attraction ends with a ride right into the Charles River! Tip: Be sure to listen to the famous story of the Boston Molasses Flood of 1919.

Boston Tea Party Museum

The Boston Tea Party was a very historical political protest that occurred in 1773 at Griffin’s Wharf in Boston, Massachusetts. On your next school trip, students can relive the events, where over a million dollars worth of English Tea was thrown into the harbor. This attraction features an outdoor reproduction of the ship in the Boston Harbor. A small portion of the tour is done indoors, where social distancing practices and sanitary requirements will be followed until further notice with the attraction.

Plimoth Plantation

Join GO Educational Tours on your next school trip with a visit to the Plimoth Plantation. This attraction is a living history museum where students will get to step back in time to 1627. School groups will interact with the re-enactors and see how daily life unfolded in this first permanent settlement in New England. We believe this is a fantastic and memorable experience to see how the first settlers adapted to the harsh conditions and how they were helped by the Wampanoag. Was it not for their help they may never have survived?

The Freedom Trail

A school trip to Boston, Massachusetts is not complete without taking a walk on the historic Freedom Trail. A walking tour can include multiple stops on the trail, including the New State House, Boston Common, Granary Burial, Kings Chapel, Parker House Hotel, Faneuil Hall, Old South Meeting Hall, and more!

A stop at the Old State House and the site of the Boston Massacre include a story-time presentation of the tragic events that took place at this location. The tour continues onto Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, where students meet and are educated by a National Park Service Ranger.

As the tour finishes in the North End, students on their school trips will see Paul Revere’s house and the Old North Church, to learn of the events of Paul Revere's midnight ride and the start of the battle of Boston.

Fun Fact, Did you know that this city is the home of the original Boston Cream Pie? How neat!
