1. Washington D.C.
Washington DC is always a great affordable and budget friendly school trip destination option. Museums have free admission. The government institutions are, of course, open to all: the Capitol, the Library of Congress, Supreme Court. You can also add to the list Arlington National Cemetery, the monuments and memorials.
2. Montreal and Quebec City in Canada
The currency exchange is very favorable these days. You get a Canadian dollar for $0.75. It’s a great opportunity to save and allows for budget friendly school trips. Go in winter and how Canadians tame the winter season. Try some maple syrup at a sugar shack or a poutine while you practice your french on tour. It’s an amazing international experience, very safe, and affordable destination.
3. College Tours
College campus tours are a great way to plan a school trip and include college visits. Meeting with school admissions and visiting the campus are great ways to help your students plan for their academic life. Not to mention they get to try the campus dining halls too.
4. Chattanooga
Lesser known but a great destination waiting to be discovered. If you are more centrally located and wish to experience something new, consider Chattanooga. You can plan a great 2 or 3 day trip with your students. See Ruby Falls, Rock City and Lookout mountain. The Tennessee Aquarium is a must see and also take a Duck tour on the river.

From MLK’s national historic site to the Jimmy Carter Library students get a chance to learn more about some of our important historical figures. Then make sure to see the whale sharks at the Georgia Aquarium. Complete your school trip with a visit of the CNN Headquarters.
