## **D.C. School Trip to the Steven F. Udvar -Hazy Center**

The Smithsonian Institute is known for its[ array of museums](https://www.goeducationaltours.com/blog/must-see-attractions-on-an-8th-grade-washington-dc-trip) that explore various industries. These museums are great at presenting educational information in a very interesting and engaging manner, especially the Steven F. Udvar- Hazy Center. It is a relatively new museum as it was opened in 2003 and facilitates the National Air and Space Museum. With these two combined, a Washington, D.C. school trip to the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center provides a list of things to do and see that will have students involved and learning.

A tour of the museum is at the top of the list of things to do as it is a must on this D.C school trip to the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. This tour is often led by an aviation specialist and allows you to view and learn about the two hangers the museum has. These hangars are home to dozens of aircraft and spacecraft. The tour takes on a flight from current aviation technology and tools to those used in World War II. ### Watch a Restoration

Another fascinating part of a visit to the museum is the opportunity to watch a live restoration of an airplane.  The[ Mary Baker Engen Restoration Hangar](https://airandspace.si.edu/visit/udvar-hazy-center/things-do/mary-baker-engen-restoration-hangar) is where all restorations take place. Students will be able to watch as engineers work on these planes which provides an unforgettable experience for them. While they won’t be able to see the beginning to end process, as it is lengthy, they will definitely be able to see enough to make their school trip to the Steven F. Udvar Hazy-Center impressive.

### IMAX Theater

Last but not least, the museum has an IMAX theater that gives students an entertaining experience. The Airbus IMAX Theater plays films that travels into the air and space while making students feel a part of the experience. It houses the biggest IMAX screen in Northern Virginia. This activity is engaging and is sure to impress students.
