Outdoor Attractions For Norway School Trips

Cliff-lined Fjords,Northern Lights, and the Midnight Sun—when it comes to seeing natural beauty at its most astounding, school trips to Norway will not disappoint.

Fjords

There are so many wonderful things about Norway, the Fjords are on top of the list. Students on a school trip can see what unfolds as they travel Fjord Norway. It is a fantastic story of water, with many chapters. The fjords were carved by a massive sheet of ice up to three kilometers thick that covered Northern Europe in a succession of ice ages. Three of the most stunning Fjords are Geirangerfjord, the Nærøyfjord, and the Lysefjord. Each has its own character and presence. On your next Norway school trip we suggest groups to take a cruise, explore the Flåm Railway Museum and Disembark in the village of Flåm, overlooking Aurlandsfjord.

Northern Lights

The famous northern lights can be seen when Norway’s skies are at their darkest, which is during the winter months. Of course, this means students will have to dress in layers, or maybe like a Viking. These are a sight that not many people get to see in their lifetime, and you and your students can be a few of them! Tromsø is firmly in the middle of the aurora zone.

Midnight Sun

The midnight sun is a natural phenomenon that occurs during the summer in places south of the Antarctic Circle and north of the Arctic Circle – including Northern Norway. Svalbard is the place in Norway where the midnight sun occurs for the longest period. Here, the sun doesn’t set between 20 April and 22 August. Doing a whale safari or exploring the wilderness inland takes on a new dimension at night in the summer months, when you literally get to see nature and wildlife in a different light.
