School Trip To Visit NYC Movie Locations

So many popular movies (and TV shows) are set in NYC. While, yes, a lot of them were filmed on sets that weren’t actually the streets of the Big Apple, there is still plenty of film history and movie spots you can see in the city on a school trip!

During a class trip to NYC, GO Educational Tours loves to lead students around the city and if we pass a famous movie spot, I always try to point it out!

One of my favorite things to do in New York City is explore Central Park. It is such a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is quiet, it is green, and it is a popular spot for movies to shoot when they’re filming in the city! I love to point out famous movie spots when leading a tour.

Some of my favorites in Central Park to mention while on our walk are Elf, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, and Night at the Museum (you can actually go explore the museum on your class trip as well!).

The Bethesda Fountain and Terrace in Central Park is also a major movie and TV film spot here. My personal favorite scene here is from Enchanted when they are singing and dancing around the fountain!

If there’s any fellow Marvel fans reading this, Central Park plays a huge part in the Marvel movies based in NYC. Spiderman visits here in Spiderman 3 - the 2007 film starring Tobey Maguire. Hulk visits here in The Incredible Hulk. There is a scene in The Avengers set at Bethesda Fountain and Terrace. This scene was actually shot at the location! Visiting NYC is perfect for us Marvel fans. There’s so much to see!

It would be nearly impossible to compile all of the movies shot in one post, so I just figured I would focus on some of my favorite that are shot in Central Park. Obviously there are so many more: 27 Dresses, 13 Going on 30, When Harry Met Sally, Breakfast at Tiffany’s… the list goes on.

If you are interested in seeing any of these movie locations (or any of your other NYC favorites), reach out to us and inquire about taking your middle or high school students on a class trip with GO!

Plan my next adventure!
